Karen Andrine Mathson was born June 22, 1883, to parents Colben and Anne (Christopherson) Mathson, on a farm in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church all her life, and was active in the L.D.R. for many years. Most of her life was spent on the home farm, with the exception of 13 years as sales clerk at Anna Mae's Apparel Shop. She spent many years caring for her aged mother and aunt, and helped with the rearing of four nieces. She had been in poor health for the past ten years. She passed away, peacefully at the Clarkfield Memorial Hospital, Sunday morning, October 18, 1959, at the age of 76 years. She leaves to mourn her departure, three half-brothers, Eneval and Lars Stenevik of Clarkfield, Syvert Stenevik of Minneapolis, a step-sister, Mrs. Miller Peterson of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and a number of nieces and nephews.
