Obituary

Karen Lee Haaland of Clarkfield, Minnesota, passed away Monday, June 9, 1986, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 23 years, after a 12-year illness with Leukemia. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 1986, from the Clarkfield Alliance Church with Pastor Peter Dorn officiating. The organist was Rhoda Nelson with special music by Rhoda Nelson and Sandy Dick and Ross and Kayann Riecke. Casket Bearers were Lynell and Leslie Leasman, Bill Brandt, Hanford J. Christensen, Tom Van De Putte and Tilford Berg. She was born May 24, 1963, in Clarkfield to Karl and Viola Haaland. She was a 1981 graduate of the Clarkfield High School. She attended St. Paul Bible College for a few months but had to quit there because of her health. She worked part-time as a nursing assistant at the Clarkfield Care Center and also assisted at the library in Clarkfield. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her work with books. In the summer of 1981 she made a trip to Norway with an uncle and aunt. She is survived by her parents and a brother Jon, sister-in-law Anita and niece Courtney along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
