Obituary

June Marie Rosamond Anderson was born in Clarkfield, Minnesota, on June 16, 1910, the daughter of Peter and Belle Marie (Monson) Anderson, pioneer residents of Clarkfield. She passed away at the Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, on Wednesday, January 14, 1953, at the age of 42 years, six months and 30 days. She was baptized by Rev. C.A. Larson and confirmed by Rev. Wee in 1924 and has been a member of the Clarkfield Evangelical Lutheran Church most of her life. She received her education in the local schools and at a school of cosmetology in Minneapolis but never practiced that profession. For many years she was employed at the Lilljestralle General Store up to the time of her marriage to Mr. Donald Monson of New Effington, South Dakota, at sisseton, South Dakota, December 2, 1933, and resided at New Effington the first years of her marriage later moving to Clarkfield where she lived with her mother. She moved to Butte des Morts, Wisconsin, in 1948 and then later to Montevideo, Minnesota, where she was employed at the S & L Store until her illness became acute in the fall of 1951, when she was taken to Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis. She spent the last months of her life in the Montevideo Hospital. June Monson was a semi-invalid most of her life following an attack of Poliomylitis when she was four years of age. She was a very devoted mother and made a courageous battle for life in order to spend a few more years with her children. She was loyal to her friends and enjoyed their kindnesses and interest in her these last months of illness. She is survived by two children, Peter and Karen Marie, and five sisters: Henriette (Mrs. James E. Paulsen) and Perle (Mrs. Conrad Haugen) of Clarkfield, Prudence (Mrs. Waldemar Hemstad) of Montevideo, Ione (Mrs. Tom Pasuqa) of Whittier, California, and Enid of Saint Paul Park, Minnesota; three brothers: Henry of Veblen, South Dakota, Palmer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Harold of Wheaton, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ben of Veblen, South Dakota, and Earle of Flint, Michigan; and infant sister, Annette. She was a granddaughter of Hendrick Monson, a first settler in the community.
