Obituary

Julius Johnson was born March 10, 1881, in Alta Vista Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota, to Berger and Carrie (Rowberg) Johnson, both natives of Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Klovenot at Minneota, Minnesota, and grew to manhood on his parents' farm near Minneota. On March 18, 1914, he was united in marriage to Mandy Severson at her parents' home in Swede Prairie Township. The couple started life together on the farm they purchased in Swede Prairie and where they resided for 52 years. To this union five children were born: Ruel, Vernon, Irene, Laurine and Ilene. In May of 1966, Mr. Johnson entered the Clarkfield Nursing Home and on November 15, 1966, he passed away at the Clarkfield Community Hospital after a short stay, having reached the age of 85 years. He is survived by his wife, Mandy; two daughters: Laurine (Mrs. Conrad Fagerlie) of Clarkfield, Minnesota, and Irene (Mrs. Kenneth Evjen) of Porter, Minnesota; two sons: Ruel Johnson and Vernon Johnson, both of Tacoma, Washington; two brothers: Alfred of Cottonwood, Minnesota, and Herbert of Montevideo, Minnesota; one sister, Mrs. Amanda Grudem of Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers: Charlie and Lewis and one in infancy; three sisters: Christina (Mrs. Haukon Brusven), Emma (Mrs. Thorvald Kompelien) and Hilda (Mrs. Orvin Severson); and a daughter, Ilene, who died in infancy.
