Julian Ueland was born in Hanley Falls, Minnesota, the son of Reinert and Kari (Listul) Ueland, on January 24, 1886. He was baptized on March 14, 1886, at the same church in Hanley Falls by Rev. Knut Thorstenson and confirmed there in 1901 by Rev. S.J. Njaa. Julian lived in the Hanley Falls community all his life except for a period of about ten years when in 1913, he homesteaded in Ashmore, Montana. His life was that of farming. On the afternoon of November 13, 1962, at the age of 76 years, he succumbed to a stroke. Up to this time he had appeared to have good health. Preceding him in death are four brothers: Gilbert, Richard, Rasmus and Goodwin and four sisters: Clara, Rebecca, Dena and Becca. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. S.J. Njaa of Northwood, North Dakota, and three brothers: Oscar of Marshall, Minnesota, Titus of Rosemount, Minnesota, and Wilhelm of Granite Falls, Minnesota.
