Julia Gustava (Anderson) Toner was born July 10, 1906 at Hazel Run, Minnesota to parents Martin and Charolette (Albin) Anderson. As an infant she was baptized and later confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Normania Township. Julia attended Country School in the Hazel Run area and also Milaca High School at Milaca, Minnesota. Julia married John Toner in 1948. They lived in Aurora, Illinois. Following the death of John in 1972, she returned to Hanley Falls, Minnesota. In the summer of 1994 she moved to Granite Falls, where she was living at the time of her death. Julia passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 1997 at the Granite Falls Hospital at the age of 90 years, 5 months, and 23 days. She is survived by her daughter LaVonne Billiet of Minneapolis and grandchildren: Brad Billiet of Portland, OR; Bonnie (and Jim) Wakely of Burnsville, MN; and Barb Billiet of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by great grandchildren Scott and Tricia Wakely and Ben Billiet and brother Elmer Anderson of Granite Falls, and sisters Esther Hardell of Belview, MN; Helen Gilbertson of Granite Falls, MN and Irma Maxner of Granite Falls, MN. Julia was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; daughter Marilyn Tiggeman; grandson Terry Tiggeman; brother Milford Anderson; and sister Marian Sheveland.
