Obituary

Josephine Mathilda Wilson Dotseth was born in Renville, Minnesota, on January 16, 1882, the daughter of Ole C. Wilson and Anne Hendrickson Wilson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She moved with her parents to North Dakota in 1885. In 1892 they moved back to Clarkfield, Minnesota, where she attended school. They later moved to the Hazel Run, Minnesota area. On April 7, 1900, she was united in marriage to Carl Dotseth by Rev. Sotendahl. To this union three sons were born: Clifford, Lester and Virgil. Carl and Josie were engagged in farming most of their lives, except for a short interval when they operated the Spring Creek Store. In 1916 they moved their family to North Dakota and in 1919 returned to farming in Minnesota. In 1948 Carl and Josie retired and moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota, where Carl passed away April 7, 1963. In July 1975, Josie moved to the Clarkfield Care Center where she passed away Wednesday, April 19, 1978, at the age of 96 years. She is survived by one son, Virgil and wife Evelyn of Granite Falls, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Ardeth Dotseth of Clarkfield, Minnesota; four grandchildren: Clifford of Palatine, Illinois, Rachel (Mrs. Harlan Hagen) of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, Ervin of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Diane (Mrs. Todd Hofteig) of Granite Falls, Minnesota; two step-granddaughters: Sharon (Mrs. Dennis Dyrdahl) of Hazel Run, Minnesota, and Gail (Mrs. Robert Stark) of Kandiyohi, Minnesota; 17 great grandchildren; two step-great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, in 1963; two sons: Clifford (in 1970) and his wife Dora (in 1968), and Lester; her parents; three brothers and four sisters. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
