Josephine Norgord was born on October 24, 1876, at Mankato, Minnesota, the daughter of Peter and Christine Larson. She was baptized the same year and later confirmed at her home congregation in Mankato. She moved to Granite Falls where she was engaged in the occupation of seamstress and during her stay there, met and married Edwin Norgord of Hanley Falls. This couple has the honored distinction of being the first couple married at the new Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church. The date was June 22, 1899, with Rev. J.S. Strand officiating. Four sons, Harold, Edwin, Wallace and Theodore, were born to this union, and survive their mother and father, who passed away January 12, 1959. Harold now resides at Aitkin, Minnesota, Edwin at Pasadena, California, Wallace at Moline, Illinois, and Theodore at Hanley Falls. Mrs. Norgord served her community and church well. She was president of the ladies aid for over six years, a charter member of the WCTU and sang in the church choir for a number of years. She passed away October 7, 1960, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, at the age of 83 years. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
