Joseph Almer Nelson was born October 7, 1887, on a farm near Boyd, Minnesota, where he spent his entire life. He passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarkfield, Minnesota, on July 10, 1973, after a lingering illness. Baptized by Pastor R. Fjeldstad on November 13, 1887, in Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, he was instructed in the Word of God, and confirmed by Pastor O.C. Farseth in the same church. Joseph was the third of five children born to John and Julia (Stenson) Nelson. He was united in marriage to Geneva Kaupang on January 25, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by Rev. J.J. Akre, an uncle. Besides his wife, Geneva, Joseph is survived by one sister, Mrs. Minnie Beltz of Minneapolis, one niece, Mrs. David Olson of Minneapolis, and one great grand niece, Mrs. Ervin Gelhar of Boyd. He is also survived by a host of friends and relatives. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bert, two sisters, Georgina and Margreth, and a nephew Guilford Beltz. He was a very active member in his church as a trustee and also in community affairs, and will be greatly missed. IN MEMORY OF JOSEPH A.
