Joseph Preston Fry was born on August 31, 1986, in Granite Falls, Minnesota, to parents Steven and LaDonna "Jill" Fry. He was baptized and confirmed at the Hanley Falls Lutheran Church, Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Joey's childhood nickname was "Joey Bear". He graduated from Yellow Medicine East High School in 2005. During high school and following he was employed as a feed mill operator at the Cottonwood Feed Mill. He played Luther League softball. He passed away on Friday, May 11, 2007, at the age of 20 years, 8 months and 10 days at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, as the result on an auto accident earlier in the week. He is survived by his parents Steve and Jill Fry of Hanley Falls and his siblings: Stevie (and Katie), Brandon and Stephanie all of Hanley Falls and Grandpa Bill (Grandma Mary Ellen). He is also survived by aunts and uncles: Karen (and Dale) Bladow, Laurie (and Doug) Gregoire, Sandy (and Billy) Sharkey and Greg (and Barb) Fry and several cousins. He was preceded in death by Grandma Wanda Sharkey and Grandpa Raymond and Grandma Dorothy Fry and 'Grandpa Orville'. He loved his family, friends, hunting, fishing and 4-wheeling. Joey will be remembered for his sense of humor, twinkling eyes, his love of dogs and riding spectacular wheelies on his 4-wheeler. His favorite sayings were "don't touch me" and "sick". He had a smile that made you wonder what he had been up to. Joey was an organ donor and because of it, many people will benefit from his love. Blessed be his memory. Because of Joey's nickname and his love of children the teddy bears in front of the church will be distributed by the family to local law enforcement agencies for children in crisis.
