Joseph Allen Cornelius was born December 5, 1982, at Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo, Minnesota, to parents David and Sharon (Mensink) Cornelius. Joey was baptized and confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church and graduated from Yellow Medicine East High School in 2002. He attended Canby Vo-Tech for Graphic Design. Joey combined his love and interest in computers and worked for Onward Services of Montevideo as an Office Assistant. Joey loved his job and put a personal touch into each project. He also created the programs for his sister Lynn's wedding. Joey loved fishing and once caught a 12 1/2 pound Walleye. He cheered for the Vikings and loved to go to the Twins games with his family. He enjoyed spending time building models, watching movies, and playing games with friends over the computer. Joey enjoyed these things and many more accompanied by his dog, Holly, on his lap and his Brother Josh, by his side. People who met Joey never forgot him and in this way he left his mark on the world. He also left his mark on the world by winning a Chevy Equinox truck at his sister's wedding. Joey passed away on Sunday evening, December 10, 2006, at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota, at the age of 24 years and 5 days. He is survived by his parents David and Sharon; brother Josh; sister Lynn (and Sean) Nelson; Great Grandmother Esther Watts; Grandparents Curt and Trudy Mensink and Al Cornelius; plus many loved Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Grandma Ramona Cornelius, Uncle Travis Mensink, and Uncle Mike Westre. Blessed be his memory.
