Obituary

Jorgina A. (Hermanson) Anderson was born January 27, 1909, at Boyd, Minnesota, to parents Henry and Dorthea (Korstad) Hermanson. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran of Boyd, Minnesota. She graduated from Boyd High School in 1927. Following high school, she attended St. Cloud Teachers College, St. Cloud, Minnesota, and graduated in 1931. She started teaching and also took summer class to get a degree. Jorgina taught in several schools in Minnesota. She moved to Aberdeen, Washington, in 1945 and taught school until 1961. She took a leave of her teaching position in 1954-1955 and taught children of the United States Army personnel in Japan. Jorgina married Norman Anderson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd in 1961. They moved to Seattle, Washington, and have continued to reside there. In 1972 they retired and enjoyed traveling around the U.S. with their camper and trailer. She was a member of Denny Park Lutheran Church of Seattle and also the Miriam Circle. Jorgina passed away on Monday, October 4, 1999, at the Columbia Nursing Home of Seattle at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 8 days. She is survived by her husband Norman of Seattle and brothers Art (and Lucille) of Boyd, Minnesota, and George of Washington, D.C.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Durvan and Melvin Hermanson.
