Jorena Marie Alness was born, on the family farm in Tyro Township, on November 3, 1919, to Magnus and Inga Foss Alness. Jerry was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church, Normania Township. She attended country school District #102. Many of her years were spent caring for her younger brothers and sister due to the early death of their mother. Because of these close ties with her family, she became all things to each and every member. Jorena married Nuel Dotseth in 1954 at the old Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They lived on the farm next to her home place for 34 years. She was employed at Larson Drug in Clarkfield for most of those years. Nuel died in 1983. In 1988, Jerry and Virgil (Bill) Schrupp were united in marriage at the Pioneer Village Church, Montevideo. She was a life long member of Spring Creek Lutheran Church where she served willingly in many capacities. Jerry passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 21, 1992, at the age of 72 in the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital. She will be greatly missed by all the people whom she came in contact with. Jerry is survived by her husband, Bill; brothers, Ornie and his wife, Grace Alness of Clarkfield, Ing and his wife, Mae Alness of Granite Falls, Marlow and his wife, Shirley Alness of Bloomington; brother-in-law, Virgil Cole of Hanley Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nuel; brother, Merlin Alness of Libby, Montana; and sister, Alvina Cole of Hanley Falls.
