Jonathan Myron Lanphear was born May 4, 1979, at Montevideo, Minnesota. He attended Dawson-Boyd High School, Dawson, Minnesota, where he loved being involved in sports. Following graduation, Jon attended Southwest Technical Institute in Granite Falls, Minnesota, for two years in the Auto Body Program. He worked at Prairie Grain Elevators in Clarkfield, Minnesota, and at the time of his death was employed in road construction with Mclaughlin & Schulz Inc., Marshall, Minnesota. Jon loved his children and spending time with them. He loved helping everyone in his community. He enjoyed deer hunting with Grandpa Myron. He was a member of the Boyd Fire Department. Jon passed away Thursday, December 12, 2002, as the result of an auto accident. He was on his way to a fire call. He had reached the age of 23 years, 7 months, and 8 days. He is survived by his son Brett Myron Lanphear, age 2; and his daughter Erin Kay Lanphear, 7 months; and their mother, Sarah. He is also survived by his mother, Donna (and Skip) Freeman of Montevideo, Minnesota; brothers and sisters Joshua, Jessica and Justen; step brothers Nick, Nathan, and Neal Freeman; and his grandpa Myron Nehring. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Eldrid and Magdeline Laux and Leonard and Leona Nehring; and grandmother Carol Nehring.
