IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jonas Christian
Johnson
January 5, 1881
Jonas Christian Johnson was born near Wegdahl, Minnesota, January 5, 1881, the son of Hans A. and Christine (Johnson) Johnson. His early boyhood days were spent on his parent's farm near Granite Falls, Minnesota. Here he attended rural school and later went to Chicago where he attended the Dano-Norwegian Theological Seminary from which he graduated April 30, 1907. He was ordained as a Baptist minister at Lodi, South Dakota, on June 18th, 1907. In 1912 he was advised by physicians to secure outdoor employment. He then entered the construction field. In 1917 he was united in marriage to Miss Hilda Dotseth of the Spring Creek community. To this union two children were born. The family farmed in this community until 1931 when they moved to Clarkfield, where Mr. Johnson lived until his death. He became critically ill in the fall of 1947 from which he partially rallied to enjoy several more months of fair health. On the 25th of March, 1950, he was again stricken and became fatally ill. He was moved to the Clarkfield Community Hospital where he passed away in the late afternoon at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 20 days. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Mrs. Theodore Quammen, Annie, and Alma, who died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Hilda, two sons, Abner and Milton, and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Abner Johnson, all of this community. Also surviving are four sisters and two brothers: Rena (Mrs. Alfred Hanson) of Montevideo, Minnesota, Laura (Mrs. Albert Peterson) of Montevideo, Mrs. Ole Dahl of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Mrs. Melvin Johnson of Austin, Minnesota, Albert Johnson of Montevideo, and Conrad Hanson of Chicago, Illinois. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be missed. Peace be with his memory.
