Johnny O. Vold, 85, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, passed away at his home, Tuesday, March 31, 1987. John was born January 30, 1902, in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Peter J. and Hilda (Johnson) Vold. He was baptized April 30, 1902, and confirmed July 2, 1916 at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. He attended school at District 28 in Friendship Township. On March 2, 1930, he married Betty E. Bengtson of Hazel Run. To this union three children were born, Kathleen, Phillip, and Lewellyn. John spent his entire life on the farm. As a young man he worked with a threshing crew and kept this special interest throughout his life. He also enjoyed music as he was involved in the Hazel Run Band and Male Chorus. Over the years he was involved as a board member with the District 28 School, Friendship Township, Hazel Run Produce, and Consumers Oil Company. He was also involved in Sons of Norway, Farm Bureau, and the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. Survivors include his children, one daughter Kathleen and husband Kenneth; two sons, Phillip and wife Lorraine, and Lewellyn and wife Joyce. Grandchildren and great grandchildren include Kimm, Carrie, Kris, and Randy Jacobson, Kayann and Ross, Nathan and Erin Riecke, Terrance Vold, Patricia Vold, Thomas Vold, Julie and Tim, Jason and Joshua Stensrud, Scott Vold, and Jill Vold. Also included are three sisters, Mrs. Theressa Dyrdahl, Mrs. Milford (Esther) Jacobson, and Mrs. Alton (Helma) Hanson and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, brother Leonard, and one grandson. JOHNNY O.
