John Reed Sturgeon was born March 25, 1892, at Portsmouth, Ohio. His parents were John and Susan (Collins) Sturgeon. He was married to Rachel Ogelvie in October, 1911. Two years later, they moved to Montevideo, Minnesota, where they farmed until 1941 when they moved to Clarkfield. John died Wednesday morning, January 26, 1972, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 79 years. He is survived by his wife, Rachel; two sons: Woodrow of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, and Johnie of Clarkfield; one daughter, Ruth (Mrs. Curtis Lynner) of Clarkfield. One son, Myron, preceded him in death in 1961. Also surviving him are 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, two brothers in Oregon and two sisters in Illinois. IN MEMORY OF JOHN R.
