John Brusven Kise March 21, 1929 ~ July 2, 2013 John Brusven Kise was born March 21, 1929, in the Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, to John and Carrie (Brusven) Kise. He was baptized at St. Lucas Lutheran Church on April 25, 1929. He was confirmed on May 16, 1943, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. John graduated from Cottonwood High School in May of 1947. John married Gayle Foss on October 28, 1950. Together they had four children: David, Darryl, Lavonne and Lori. In his early years, John farmed and owned the Spudnut (donut/coffee) Shop in Montevideo. He drove city buses and did some trucking. He worked in heating and air conditioning repair as well as plumbing. Prior to his retiring he did maintenance work at a couple housing complexes in the Minneapolis area. John retired in Atwater, Minnesota, and later moved to Willmar, Minnesota, as his health declined. When he could no longer live by himself, he lived at Rice Care Center in Willmar for a couple months before moving to Crestview Lutheran Home in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, so he could be near his son Darryl. While at Crestview Lutheran Home, John enjoyed going out to Perkins for an occasional meal. He loved Kit Kat candy bars and cookies. Because he was in the Twin Cities area, he was able to attend his grandson Ben's open house for graduation and grandson John's wedding. John was able to attend his 65th year class reunion on July 14, 2012, in Cottonwood, Minnesota. It was important that he go and granddaughter Carrie and friend Linda Loesch made it happen. He passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Crestview Home in Columbia Heights at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 10 days. He is survived by his children: David (Sarah), Darryl, LaVonne (Keith) Vanderpoel, Lori Roehl; daughter-in-law, Nancy Kise; grandchildren: John (Kayla) Kise, Carrie Kise (Jamshid Fehresti), Sondra Roehl, Noah Kise and Ben Kise; and great grandchildren: Cayden Kise and Emma Hess. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and one grandson. In Loving Memory of John B.
