John E. "Jack" Anderson was born in Stony Run Township, on January 19, 1875, and resided in the Clarkfield area all his life. His parents were A.K. and Carrie Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Bergen Lutheran Church and was a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church at the time of his death. For 57 years, Mr. Anderson served the community as a carpenter and during the long harvest seasons was a thresher, going form one farm to the next with the "rig." He has lived independently most of his life except for about five years when he made his home with his nephew, A.L. Anderson. He had been a resident of the Clarkfield Nursing Home. He passsed away May 31, 1961, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital at the age of 86 years. His parents and six brothers and sisters preceded him in death, namely: Charley, Anton and Theodore Anderson, Mrs. Sena Tjosvold, Mrs. Alvina Ness and Mrs. Hans Ness. He is survived by one brother, Olender of Clear Lake, South Dakota, and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
