John Heimer Johnson was born June 28, 1894, in Gammalstorp, Sweden, the son of Earnst and Bangta (Nelson) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He came to America in 1912 to his brother, Carl Johnson at Clarkfield, Minnesota, where he worked as a farm hand for several farmers until he entered the U.S. Army in World War I. On September 15, 1920, he was united in marriage to Alice Anderson by Rev. Bengston. The couple farmed in the immediate area until they moved to Clarkfield in 1953. Heimer worked on the township committee under the ASCS program and in 1956 became performance supervisor. Later, he served on the County Committee until he reached his 70th birthday. He was a loyal member of the Augustana Lutheran Church. He entered eternal rest on March 1, 1971, at the age of 76 years. He will be greatly missed by his children, Curtis, James, Alvern and Norma (Mrs. Erling Anderson), all of this community; eight grandchildren; and his brothers: Carl and Fritz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, on January 22, 1966; a daughter, Vernetta; two infant grandsons; his parents; and two brothers: Nels Bernard Johnson and Oscar Hilding Johnson.
