John Harms passed away at the age of 72 years at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital on November 15, 1986. John was born October 28, 1914, at George, Iowa, to Henry and Lena (Renken) Harms. He attended school in George. In 1932 the family moved to the Canby, Minnesota area. John was confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Canby and was a member there until he moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, and has since then been a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. John was married to Donna Johnson at Clear Lake, South Dakota, on August 25, 1937. To this union were born four children, Donald, Janet, Phyllis and Robert. John and Donna farmed in the Canby area until 1970 when they moved to Clarkfield. John was then employed by Cliff Viessman as a truck driver and later by AMPI at the milk plant in Clarkfield. He retired in 1983. Survivors include his wife, Donna; his children, Donald of Foreston, Minnesota, Robert of Clarkfield, Mrs. Russell (Janet) Quenemoen of Clarkfield and Mrs. Howard (Phyllis) Jurgenson of Clarkfield; Eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three brothers, Harold and Nick of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Leonard of Canby; and two sisters, Mrs. Otis (Thressa) Coil of Canby and Mrs. Merill (Rose) Gregor of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wesley of Canby; and one sister Mrs. Marvin (Anna Mae) Denny of Tacoma, Washington. Blessed be his memory.
