John Hanserud was born March 21, 1879, in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Ingebret and Marie (Johnson) Hanserud. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. John lived with his brother, Edward, on their farm, the same place he was born in Lisbon Township, until 1948 when together they moved into Clarkfield. He had been in failing health the past two years but not until recently was his condition regarded as serious. He entered the Clarkfield Hospital July 8, 1964, where he remained until death claimed him on Friday, August 28, 1964, at the age of 85 years. Mr. Hanserud is survived by one sister, Gina Lynne, and four nephews: Oscar and Elmer Melbostad and Arden and C.E. Lynne, all of Clarkfield, and a number of other relatives and friends.
