John Anderson was born May 27, 1901 at Vallers Township, Lyon County, Minnesota to parents Gunvald J. and Anne (Olson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. John married Hannah Swanson on September 27, 1930. To this union a son, Clifford, was born. John and Hannah farmed in Normania Township. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Europe, the Holy Land, Australia, New Zealand, and many Scandinavian countries. John was on the Elevator Board for the Cottonwood Elevator and various church boards. He enjoyed visiting relatives and friends. He continued to live on the farm, following the passing of Hannah, in 1987, until he entered the Clarkfield Care Center in August of 1991. John passed away at the Care Center on Saturday evening, February 10, 1996 at the age of 94 years, 8 months, and 15 days. He is survived by his son Clifford, and wife Jeanette, of Cottonwood; four grandchildren: Keith and wife Debra Anderson, Erik and wife, Merrilee Anderson, all of Cottonwood; Susan Rink and husband, Jim, of North Aurora, IL and Jane Dunteman and husband, David of Sioux Falls, SD and four great-grandchildren: Brittany and Dalton Anderson, Kayla Anderson, and Conner Dunteman. He is also survived by one brother, George and wife Ruth Anderson of Ruthton and nephews Phillip Anderson, Paul Anderson, Carl Anderson, Daniel Anderson and Donald Lowe. John was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah, two sisters and one brother.
