John J. Flaa was born June 9, 1878, in Baxter Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, where he grew to manhood, the son of John and Maret (Melhaus) Flaa. He was baptized by Rev. Solseth and confirmed by Rev. Hoff. His life occupation was farming. On September 11, 1904, he was united in marriage to Miss Ella Christopherson of Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, who survives him. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister: Alfred of Spokane, Washington, Martin of Dawson, Minnesota, and Mrs. Christine Clawson of Minneapolis; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Flaa was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers, namely, Julia (Mrs. H.P. Iverson) of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Berget (Mrs. Ole Bye) of Boyd, Minnesota, Ole, Joe and Jens of Boyd, Minnesota, and Gerhard of Minneapolis. John spent his entire life in this community and was a member of the Bergen congregation for 55 years. Due to failing health, John and his wife retired to the Home at Madison, Minnesota, two years ago. His death followed a lingering illness. IN MEMORY OF JOHN J.
