John Alfred Anderson March 27th, 1924 ~ May 30th, 2015 John Alfred Anderson was born March 27, 1924, in Hazel Run, Minnesota, to Sena (Lee) Anderson and Alfred Olai Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Hazel Run Lutheran Church. He graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy and while stationed in Houston, he met and married Dorothy Alicha Stonequist of Galveston. After he was discharged from the Navy, they moved to Hazel Run, where John resumed farming with his family. In the fall of 1947 John and Dorothy moved out to the family farm, where they spent the next 50 years of their married life until Dorothy passed away on January 26, 1997. Together John and Dorothy raised four children while farming and contributing to the community. John was a member of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed activities with his kids including volleyball, bike riding, skiing, climbing rope, fishing and swimming. He and Dorothy belonged to the Hazel Run Fiddle Footers square dance club. John learned to play golf later in life and enjoyed many years of play in the Clarfield golf league. He remained active in his later years dancing, swapping stories over morning coffee and playing cards, especially Buck Euchre and Pinoccle. He was interested in hearing people's stories and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He farmed until his early 80s and lived alone on the home site until he was unable to drive. John passed away Saturday evening, May 30, 2015, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his four children: Dennis Anderson (Anne Starr) of Omaha, Nebraska, Barbara Bonham of Oakdale, Minnesota, Corrine Kraft (Brian) of New Brighton, Minnesota, and Donald Anderson (Sharon) of rural Hazel Run, Minnesota.
