John Edward Agre was born on May 26, 1878, in Baxter Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, the son of Jacob and Randy (Eike) Agre. He was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Boyd, Minnesota, where he was a lifetime member. On December 21, 1909, he was united in marriage to Maria Oien. To this union four children were born, namely: James of Paramount, California, Irvin of Norwalk, California, Mabel (Mrs. Arthur) Collins of Bemidji, Minnesota, and Luthard of Redlands, California. All four children survive him as do eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters: Regina (Mrs. Alfred) Stenson of Clarkfield, Minnesota, and Olava (Mrs. Oscar) Olson of Madison, Minnesota; two brothers: Benny Agre formerly of Clarkfield now living in Wisconsin, and Richard Agre of Dawson, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. The past twenty years Mr. Agre has resided in California, the last eleven at Redlands. Prior to that he lived in the Boyd, Minnesota area. He was preceded in death by hs parents, his wife, one sister and two brothers. He passed away at the age of 91 years on January 12, 1970, at 1:30 a.m., at Redlands, California. A memorial service was held at 8:00 p.m. on January 13, 1970, at Redlands, California, with Rev. Darrell K. Schultz officiating.
