Jimmie Donald Varpness (February 21, 1938 ~ September 21, 2012) Jimmie Donald Varpness was born February 21, 1938 at Clarkfield, Minnesota, to parents Dithloff and Amanda (Selness) Varpness. He had two siblings: Delmar and Alice. Jimmie married RoseAnn Kopitski on February 4, 1961. They lived in Clarkfield for several years then moved to Marshall. He worked at AMPI in Dawson for several years before retiring in 1993. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed his family and his cat Tiger. He also enjoyed going for rides to the casino, doing word find books, watching the Minnesota Vikings and reading books by his favorite author Louie L'Amour. Jimmie Donald Varpness passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012, at Avera Marshall Hospital at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife RoseAnn of Marshall; children, Doug (Cheryl) Varpness of Mayer, Minnesota, Lawrence (Roseann) Varpness of Glenwood, Minnesota, Bryan (Diahanna) Varpness of Montevideo, Minnesota, Cindy (Bruce) Robinson of Marshall, Kathy Varpness and Sandra Belt both of Montevideo, 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marion Varpness of Clarkfield and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delmar Varpness; sister, Alice Johnson (and husband LeRoy); and nephews Duane Varpness and David Varpness.
