Jerold Palmer Reishus was born September 3, 1937, at Clarkfield, Minnesota, to parents Alfred and Edna (Berre) Reishus. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. Jerry graduated from Cottonwood High School, Cottonwood, Minnesota, in 1955. He then attended South Dakota State University at Brookings, South Dakota until 1957. From 1957-1958, he was a foreign exchange student in Agriculture in England. He then attended the University of Minnesota in 1960. Jerold married Norma Elizabeth Blake on December 8, 1962, in Wem, England. They were the parents of two daughters: Kristen and Kari and a son Jay. Jerry enlisted in the National Guard in December of 1973. He was a National Guard officer, serving 20 years. He was a winter operations Instructor Specialist Trainer in Norway. He was proud of his military background and loved serving his country. Jerry and Norma farmed near Cottonwood and (he) also was a trucker for Floyd Wild Trucking of Marshall, Minnesota. About 10 months ago he was diagnosed with cancer, and has fought its battle courageously. He passed away on Friday morning, November 15, 2002, at the Weiner Memorial Medical Center in Marshall, Minnesota, at the age of 65 years, 2 months, and 10 days. He is survived by his wife, Norma of rural Cottonwood; daughters Kristen (and William) Barnett of Canby, Minnesota, and Kari (and Steven) Howey of Cottonwood, and son Jay (and Kim) Reishus of Dent, Minnesota. He is also survived by grandchildren: Dylan Howey and Jessica and Kelly Reishus; and sisters: Karen Sandberg and Avis (and Cam) Cleugh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Reishus and Edna Reishus Sharkey, and brother-in-law Bob Sandberg. Jerry was extremely witty. He enjoyed working with his miniature steam engines. He enjoyed life to the "max." He will truly be missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him. Blessed be the memory of Jerold Palmer Reishus.
