IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jennie Charlotte
(Olson) Haaland
October 3, 1891 – May 21, 1984
Jennie Charlotte Haaland was born in Humbolt County, Iowa, on October 3, 1891, to John and Mary (Lund) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed by Pastor O.C. Farseth. At the age of nine, Jennie moved with her family to Tyro Township near Clarkfield, Minnesota where she grew to womanhood. She married Joseph M. Haaland, also of this area on June 2, 1914. To this union were born four children, Carola, Adeline, Donald (who has preceded her in death), and Waldemar. She, together with her husband, resided in Minnesota communities of Mankato, St. Louis Park, Worthfield, and Owatonna until his death on September 3, 1972. In her later years Jennie lived with her two daughters, most recently at Big River (Earp), California, where she found satisfaction in working with her daughters with the Indians of the Colorado Indian Tribes, near Parker, Arizona. She was active in community and church affairs. She loved her Lord and served Him as a Sunday School teacher for many years and also in the Women's Missionary Federation of the old ELC. Her interest in youth led her into public school teaching for a number of years and also post-confirmation Bible class wherever she has resided. She passed away May 21, 1984, at her farm home southwest of Clarkfield, Minnesota, at the age of 92. Jennie is survived by her two daughters, Carola and Adeline of Big River, California; her son, Waldemar of Red Wing, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister (Mrs. Edna Johnson); and many relatives and friends. Blessed be her memory.
