June 16, 1897 – June 28, 1976
Mrs. Herbert (Jennie) Beecher, 79, passed away Monday morning, June 28, 1976, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, after a year of illness with cancer. Born to John and Emily Carlson on June 16, 1897, in Oshkosh Township of Yellow Medicine County, her mother passed away when Jennie was six months old. She was brought up by an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. August Swenson. She was baptized and confirmed in Providence Valley Lutheran Church, by Rev. N.W. Swenson. On March 15, 1922, she was united in marriage to Herbert Beecher of Canby, at the Providence Valley parsonage by Rev. August Samuelson. They lived in Oshkosh Township for a number of years, after which they moved to a farm south of Clarkfield, where she lived until the time of her death. Mrs. Beecher is survived by her husband, Herbert of Clarkfield; eight children: Leonard, Virgil, Floyd and Janice, all of Clarkfield, Roger and Lorraine (Mrs. LeRoy Appleseth) of Minneapolis, and Doris (Mrs. Jay Anderson) of Watertown, South Dakota, Harriet (Mrs. Oman) of Burbank, California; one sister, Mrs. Hilda Benner of Gary, South Dakota; a half brother, Melvin Carlson of Minneapolis; a half sister, Mrs. Cora Weisbrod of Montevideo; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Armand; and a half brother, Elmer Carlson of Dawson. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
