Janet Marie Satre was born November 21, 1928, at Montevideo, Minnesota, to parents Chester and Mary (Feldhake) Iverson. She was baptized as an infant and was confirmed on July 11, 1942. Janet attended Montevideo Public Schools, and graduated from Montevideo's last Normal Training Class in 1948. She then attended St. Cloud College, St. Cloud, Minnesota, and received a teaching degree in 1951. Janet married Marvin H. Satre on September 7, 1954. This marriage was blessed with a son, Marlin. Janet taught school in Pine City, Brandon Country School, Boyd and in the H.A. Hagg Elementary in Clarkfield, Minnesota, for 23 years (1967-1990). In 1983-84, she was chosen "Clarkfield Teacher of the Year" and nominated for Minnesota Teacher of the Year in 1984. She served as President, treasurer, and secretary of the Clarkfield Teachers Association. She also was involved with her church and had served as President of the Catholic Church Society in the early 1960s. Janet enjoyed and loved her family. Her grandchildren were the "Apple of her Eye" and she enjoyed taking care of them. She loved animals and was especially fond of her Pomeraniums, "Putsie" and "Boots". She loved gardening, canning, knitting. She was on dialysis for 3 1/2 years and had a kidney transplant 14 years ago. Janet passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2000, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, at the age of 71 years, 6 months, and 6 days. She is survived by her family: Marvin, Marlin, Jeanine, and grandchildren: Brandon, Danielle, and Michelle. She was preceded in death by her parents. Blessed be her memory.
