James R. Stevens was born December 21, 1887, in Sandnes Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Ole and Mary (Larson) Stevens. He was baptized and confirmed at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church. He married Clara Jacobson on April 6, 1919. They farmed in the Hanley Falls area until he retired in 1959. They have resided in Hanley Falls since that time. He passed away at the Granite Falls Hospital on August 1, 1974, at the age of 86 years. Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife Clara; three sons: LeVern of Spokane, Washington, Clayton of rural Hanley Falls, and Orville of Denver, Colorado; one daughter, Arlene (Mrs. Gene Johnson) of Montevideo, Minnesota; one sister, Julia Jacobson of Clarkfield; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one great grandchild, Jeffrey Todd Stevens. IN MEMORY OF JAMES R.
