Obituary

James Lee was born June 22, 1890, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Mathias and Jerthina (Jacobson) Lee. He was baptized by Rev. Thostenson and confirmed by Rev. E.C. Reinertson. As a boy, he attended the rural school near Boyd, Minnesota, where his parents lived at that time. Later, when the family moved on a farm a mile east of Clarkfield, he attended the Clarkfield School. Being the oldest child, he assumed much responsibiliy and assisted his parents with farming until the fall of 1919 when he left for Kathryn, North Dakota, where he and his brother, Carl , were engaged in farming. He then farmed at Valley City, North Dakota, until his health began to fail. In 1954, he returned to Minnesota and lived for a period of time with his mother and sisters. He was hospitalized in September and passed away Wednesday, December 14, 1960, at the Willmar Hospital at the age of 70 years. He is survived by his aged mother; five sisters and four brothers, namely, Alfred of Montevideo, Minnesota, Bernt of Minneapolis, Reuben at Fort Meade, South Dakota, George of Willmar, Minnesota, Tillie (Mrs. William Feist) of Hazel Run, Minnesota, Mrs. Mattie Anderson of Veblen, South Dakota, Thea (Mrs. Oscar Kopitzke) of Willmar, Minnesota, Sophia (Mrs. Melville Long) and Mrs. Clara Afdem of Clarkfield; besides a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are his father; one sister, Mabel; and two brothers, Peter and Carl. IN MEMORY OF JAMES M.
