IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James "Jim"
Hanson
August 18, 1947 – November 6, 2013
James "Jim" Hanson August 18, 1947 - November 6, 2013 James E. "Jim" Hanson was born August 18, 1947, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital to Edward C. and Marianne (Standal) Hanson. Jim was baptized on October 12, 1947, at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church where he was also later confirmed. Jim remained a faithful member there his entire life also serving as an usher. He attended Clarkfield High School and thereafter attended a Technical School. Jim's true love was farming and he remained a farmer until his retirement a few years ago. Jim and Mary (Verschelde) Prellwitz married on September 2, 1977, and were happily married until Mary passed away in 2005. Jim and Jessica (Rapatt) were united in marriage on June 16, 2012. They were living on Jim's farm at the time of his passing. Jim was a member of the NRA and a Yellow Medicine Township Assessor. He always had a love for Nascar and enjoyed watching races. Jim occasionally would help out in the pits with race cars. He liked fixing old tractors, watching tractor pulls, and attending auctions. Jim also took pleasure in making special "gag" gifts and Belgian cookies, shooting squirrels, playing pool, and bowling with Mary. Although Jim was a quiet and kind man, he was unique and liked to ponder "life's dilemmas." Jim frequently told jokes and he loved to keep people wondering what he was going say or do next. He often said, "It's the quiet people you have to watch out for!" Jim passed away peacefully at his home early Wednesday, November 6th after suffering from a stroke two weeks prior. Jim was 66 years, 2 months, and 19 days old. Jim is survived by his wife Jessica, his dog Ollie, and his five sons: Brian (Barb) Prellwitz of Starbuck, Minnesota, Scott Prellwitz and Tim Prellwitz both of Willmar, Minnesota, Jason (Anita) Prellwitz of Montevideo, Minnesota, and Nathan Hanson of Willmar, Minnesota. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Alona Prellwitz, Bryce (Brittany) Prellwitz, Amber and Kyle Anderson, Ben and Chris Nygaard. Also, Jim is survived by step mother, Dora Hanson of Westbrook, Minnesota; step brothers: Warren (Pat) Riddell and Murray (Susan) Riddell; step sister Merry Johnson; also eight step grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his father Edward, mother Marianne, and wife Mary. Jim has touched the hearts of many and his memory will forever live on. In Loving Memory of James E.
