Jacob Henry Volkman was born near Arlington, Minnesota, on January 18, 1887, later moving to Posen Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with his parents, Gustaf and Elizabeth (Ruehl) Volkmann. He was confirmed at the Posen Church. He worked as a farm laborer for many years in the Cottonwood community and there lived by himself until entering the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, last fall. Mr. Volkman passed away Monday morning, March 16, 1970, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital at the age of 83 years. He is survived by a sister, Freda (Mrs. John Clark) of West St. Paul, Minnesota; and two brothers: John Volkmann of Cottonwood, and August Volkmann of Canby, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews.
