IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Iver R
Haugen
January 9, 1870 – January 9, 1870
Iver R. Haugen, the son of Rasmus and Malina (Solheim) Haugen, was born at Nordfjord, Norway, on January 9, 1870. He was baptized at the Hornindal Church at Nordfjord, Norway, by Rev. Eckhoff in January, 1870, and confirmed at the same church in September, 1884, by Rev. Schaaning. Iver Haugen immigrated to America in 1889 and for several years was a railroad employee in southern Minnesota. He entered the occupation of farming in 1897, purchasing a farm south of Clarkfield. Two years later, in March, 1899, he was united in marriage with Olina Langseth of Nordfjord, Norway, before Rev. Strand at the Synod church in Benson, Minnesota. To this marriage, God added his blessing of two daughters, Myrtle and Ida. The family lived on this farm until 1926 when Mr. Haugen took up residence in Clarkfield where he was employed part-time at the Clarkfield Lumber Yard which at that time was the Dollif Yard and managed by Matt Quist and later others, until about 1940 when he retired. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olina, in 1955, and a few months later by his daughter, Ida (Mrs. O.M. Haaland) and also a grandson, Robert, in 1950. Mr. Haugen had been in good health until several weeks ago when he suffered a fall, and on June 27, 1964, at the age of 94 years, passed from this life at the Clarkfield Community Hospital. He is survived by his daughter, Myrtle, of Clarkfield who has remained in her parental home caring for her father during his later years. IN MEMORY OF IVER R.
