Obituary

Iver O. Gaarden/Gordon was born July 13, 1866, in Gol, Hallingdal, Norway. He came to America with his parents in 1878 and settled on a farm south of Clarkfield. As a boy he helped his parents with the farm work. He was confirmed by Rev. Thostenson at Saint Lucas Church. At the age of twenty, he began threshing which he did for several years until he started a jewelry store in Clarkfield, where he made many friends. Some years later he moved his store to Hanley Falls, where there was no watch maker and became well liked by many. In 1931 he was united in marriage to Hanna Hanson of the Spring Creek area. At this time he discontinued the store business and moved to the farm with his wife. After the death of his wife in 1940, he returned to Hanley Falls and the watch repairing, which he continued until his death. Blessed be his memory.
