Irene Lucille Kise was born June 25, 1908, in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Alfred and Annie (Thorhaug) Jacobson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in the Spring Creek Lutheran Church. On October 5, 1927, the Reverand O.M.O. Wee united Irene Jacobson and Oscar Kise of Boyd. Seven children were born of this marriage: Mrs. Ernest D. (Berry) Gustafson of Minneapolis, Ordean I. Kise, Long Beach, California, Howard A. Kise, Minneapolis, Burdette L. Kise, Parkville, Mrs. Corine I. Boettcher, Minneapolis, Mrs. Jim D. (Marlys) Hansen, Boyd, and Mrs. Ronald A. (LeAnn) Moe, Brooklyn Park. Her entire life was spent in the Clarkfield-Boyd area where she was a homemaker and also owned and operated a coffee shop for a number of years. Poor health forced her to live in a nursing home since September 1975 and she chose to be in one in Minneapolis in order to be near several of her children. She had been active throughout her life in her church, P.T.A., the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Clarkfield Hospital Auxiliary. Death came on Friday, June 25, 1976, her 68th birthday, at the Fairview-Southdale Hospital's Intensive Care Unit where she had been a patient since June 15. She is survived by her seven children; 15 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; two brothers: Milton of Clarkfield and Wesley of Elk Grove Village, Illinois; two sisters: Mrs. Alice Herrick and Mrs. Leonard (Camilla) Peterson, both of Clarkfield; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Kise in 1967; a grandson, Garry Kise; her parents; and a brother, Myron.
