Irene DeMersseman was born June 26, 1888, in Hazel Run, Minnesota, the daughter of James and Clara (Iscaason) Jertson. Mrs. DeMersseman passed away at the home of her sister, Mabel Schomburg in Granite Falls, with whom she has lived for the last 20 years. She was 87 at the time of her death. Surviving family members include five daughters and two sons: Erma (Mrs. Fred Ahrend) of Seaview Washington, Dorothy (Mrs. Paul Williams) of Orinda, California, Clarice (Mrs. William Townsley) of Whittier, California, Donald of Jamestown, North Dakota, Irene (Mrs. Walter Arbanas) of Los Altos, California, Earl of LaMirada, California, and Wanda (Mrs. Carlos Whiting) of Silver Springs, Maryland. She is also survived by one sister, Mabel; 18 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides relatives she leaves a host of friends in the Granite Falls and Clarkfield area including the Senior Citizens groups. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, who died in 1945.
