Obituary

Ingvald Martin Anderson was born October 11, 1892, at the farm home in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Mons and Ingeborg (Rextad) Anderson. He lived his entire life on this farm, with the exception of the past year and a half since he purchased a home in Clarkfield. Ingvald was baptized by pastor Carl J. Moen, first regular pastor of the local church, and confirmed by Rev. J.B. Reinertson. He received his schooling, both public and parochial, in District No. 33. On October 20, 1918, he was married to Miss Julia Satre by Rev. O.T. Storaasli. For many years Mr. Anderson served his church as trustee and loved his church dearly. Even after he became physically almost helpless, he made every effort to attend the services on Sunday mornings. Mr. Anderson entered the implement business in Clarkfield in 1933, starting in a very modest way, but by unceasing work and a very pleasing personality he built it up until it took all of his time. During these years he built up a wide acquaintanceship throughout this locality and neighboring communities. He liked people, sincerely and without affectation and, as a consequence, they liked him. There were many moist eyes at the funeral Saturday. On March 30, 1948, Mr. Anderson was stricken with paralysis, leaving him almost helpless. He rallied, however, and was determined to get well again. Only a few weeks ago he was a guest at the local implement store he built, when the annual "Open House" was held for its friends and customers. He seemed cheerful, and still believed he could overcome his crippled condition. He valued his friends greatly, and after he became confined to his home he would appreciate a wave of the hand, or a honk of the carhorn as they passed on the street. March 20, 1951, Mr. Anderson suffered another severe stroke and was taken to the hospital in an unconscious condition. He failed to rally. Death came that same afternoon, at the age of 56 years. Surviving him are his wife, and four children: Waldemar, Alfild, Irving and Joan (Mrs. LeRoy Nelson), all residents in the Clarkfield area. Also surviving are four grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends who will miss a cheerful and well-loved friend.
