Funeral services were held for Ing Lynner, age 81, Thursday, January 23, 1975. Mr. Lynner the son of Jens and Ingeborg (Rognestad) Lynner, was born and spent most of his life in Clarkfield. He served in the Army in France during World War I. Upon returning home, he attended Business College before becoming Assistant Cashier of the Clarkfield State Bank with I.F. Fagerlie. He held that position until the bank closing of the Depression. Mr. Fagerlie and Ing established an insurance office, but shortly thereafter Ing was appointed Postmaster, a position he held for 30 years until his retirement at the age of 70. He was a member of the National League of Postmasters. In 1922 he married Myrtle Eklund, a local teacher. Mrs. Lynner taught for some time after their marriage. A son, Robert Ecklund Lynner was born in 1928. Bob, who received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota, passed away October 15, 1974. Mr. Lynner was instrumental in organizing the local Legion Post and the Commercial Club, today known as the Civic and Commerce Organization. Ing was interested in all sports to the extent Clarkfield had its own golf course on some donated land. He was a staunch supporter of baseball, football and basketball, also enthusiastic worker in forming the first Boy Scout troop. Mr. Lynner was stricken with a serious illness, causing several hospitalizations in Akron, Ohio, Deaconess Hospital in Minneapolis, locally, and in Rochester, Minnesota. He had been confined to his home for some time under the care of Dr. Suad A. Niazi. He became seriously ill Sunday noon, January 19, 1975, and passed away about midnight at the Clarkfield Memorial Hospital. In Mr. Lynner's honor, all business places were closed during his funeral. The flag at the Post Office was flown at half mast all day Thursday. Leaving to mourn his loss are his wife, Myrtle; Shirlee Lynner, his daughter-in-law and his three grandchildren, Robert, Roblyn, and Brian; brother, John Lynner and his wife Esther; nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Earl Ecklund and wife Myrtle; and sister-in-law Hazel Thro. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Richard, and brother H. Christian.
