Ingolf Nygaard was born June 7, 1900, at Randaberg, Stavenger, Norway, to parents Ralph and Christine (Leikvoll) Ralsen. He arrived in America March 18, 1926, and later became a United States citizen. On March 3, 1928, he was united in marriage to Rakel Fossan of Stavenger, Norway. This marriage took place in Clarkfield, Minnesota. They purchased a farm in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, in 1935, where they farmed until 1966. They resided on the farm until October 19, 1973, when they moved into Clarkfield, Minnesota. He has been a member of the St. Lucas Lutheran Church, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, since 1938. Ingolf had been in failing health for the past year. He passed away suddenly at his home in Clarkfield, Wednesday March 5, 1980. He is survived by his wife Rachel of Clarkfield; cousins in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Norway; and also a host of friends.
