Ingebret F. Fagerlie was born on May 9, 1880, in rural Sacred Heart, Minnesota, the son of Franz and Kari (Braum) Fagerlie. He was baptized and confirmed in Our Savior's Lutheran Church by Rev. Johannes Bergh. He attended school in the Sacred Heart rural area and Business College in Minneapolis. After serving as Deputy Register of Deeds for Renville County in Olivia, Minnesota, he came to Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1907, where he was employed in the Clarkfield State Bank and later the insurance business up to the time of his retirement. On June 30, 1910, he was married to Annie M. Afdem in Clarkfield by Rev. O.T. Storaasli. Mr. Fagerlie was active in school, civic and church affairs. He served on the Clarkfield school board about 20 years, he was mayor of Clarkfield ten years, trustee of Clarkfield Lutheran Church, and a charter member of the "Fraum" Male Chorus. He is survived by his wife; four sons: Conrad and Julian of Clarkfield, Fritjof of Beirut, Lebanon, Valdemar of St. Paul; four daughters: Anna of McComb, Illinois, Dorothy (Mrs. William Hopper) of Loves Park, Illinois, Doris (Mrs. Orrin Halvorson) of Miami, Florida, Margaret (Mrs. Clifford Wold) of Bovey, Minnesota; one sister, Fryda Fagerlie of Granite Falls, Minnesota; ten grandchildren: Mary Jo Fagerlie, William Jr., John and Thomas Hopper, Theckla Fagerlie, Karen and Clifford Wold Jr., Dorothy Ann and Cleo Fagerlie.
