Obituary

Ingebor Bernice (Otterness) Stenhaug (December 17, 1913 - November 4, 2010) Ingebor "Inky" Stenhaug completed her earthly journey on November 4, 2010, at the age of 96. She was born on December 17, 1913, to John and Turi (Homme) Otterness in rural Dennison, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Urland Lutheran Church in rural Cannon Falls, Minnesota, and attended rural school and graduated from Cannon Falls High School. She also attended Winona State Teacher's College for two years. On June 15, 1933, she married Ted Stenhaug, also of rural Dennison. They operated the Sogn General Store for a while and then moved to Spooner, Wisconsin, and owned and operated a Variety Store for four years. In 1938 they moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, and operated a variety store for several years. Besides assisting Ted in the operation of the variety store, she also worked at the Red and White Grocery store in Clarkfield as well as the Grinager's Department Store. In 1971 she and Ted became the custodians at the newly built Valhalla Apartments and worked in that capacity for seven years. Inky was an active member in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church, serving a long time as a Sunday School teacher, a member of C.L.C.U., Senior Choir, Ladies Chorus, Director of a children's choir for seven years, and belonged to the Hospital Auxiliary, R.S.V.P volunteer program. After her husband passed away in 1986, Inky continued to live in Clarkfield until 1994 when she moved to her apartment in New Hope, Minnesota. In 2007 she moved to the Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria. Inky is survived by three sons: Theodore (Carol) of Alexandria, Minnesota, Wallace (Sandy) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dennis of Casper, Wyoming; and one daughter, JoAnn (William) Fermenich of Circle Pines, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Gladys Stenhaug and Alice Otterness Todd. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted; parents; sister, Gladys Mielke; brother, Harold Otterness; daughter-in-law Mary; and grandson, Lonnie. Inky was a loving, dedicated wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all her family, relatives and friends. Blessed be her memory. To the Glory of God and in Loving Memory of Ingebor B.
