Inga Caroline Johnson was born January 18, 1902, to parents John and Johanna (Skarskein) Appelseth on the family farm near Clarkfield, Minnesota. She attended rural school, later graduating in 1924. She took up nursing at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Inga had to leave the college to help her father with his brother, who was ill. Inga married Russell C. Johnson and together they operated "Russell's", a men's clothing store in Clarkfield. Russell passed away in 1988. She was a lifelong member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church, was a Sunday School teacher, and active in church organizations. She remained in Clarkfield until 1997 when she moved to Moorhead and lived with Shirley and Roger Fremo. Inga Caroline Johnson passed from this world into the arms of her Lord on Thursday, June 8, 2006, at the age of 104 years, 5 months, and 21 days. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley and husband Roger of Moorhead, Minnesota, and their four children: Cynthia Shepherd and her children Shane, Dustin, and Dana Shepherd of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Shannon Fremo and daughter Sarah of Moorhead, Minnesota, Michelle Johnson and Zack of Moorhead, Minnesota, and Sid Fremo of Duluth, Minnesota. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell and several brothers and sisters. Blessed be her memory.
