Inez Kompelien September 6th, 1920 - January 8th, 2017 Inez Kompelien, of Montevideo died January 8, 2017, at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 96. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, rural Clarkfield with Rev. David Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Inez Eveleth Hovdesven Kompelien was born on September 6, 1920, in Vallers Township, Lyon County, to Albert and Amanda (Kise) Hovdesven. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church and remained a life long member. Inez attended Rural School District 56 through 8th grade and then attended high school in Cottonwood, graduating in 1938. Inez and Thurman Kompelien were married on April 10, 1943, at the parsonage in Cottonwood. They lived on their farm in Normania Township for 57 years. They moved to Hillstreet Place in Marshall in 2000. After Thurman's death in 2003, Inez remained at Hillstreet until 2007 when she moved to Copper Glen in Montevideo. In 2014 she became a resident of Luther Haven Nursing Home. Her hobbies included: quilting, reading, crossword puzzles, jig-saw puzzles, playing games with her grandchildren and visiting family and friends. Inez is survived by her daughter, Arlys (Roger) Tilberg, Montevideo; daughter-in-law, Sharon Kompelien, Alexandria; son-in-law, Michael (Joy Dunn) Bergeland, Alexandria; grandchildren: Lynette (Brian) Kroll, Mark (Laurene) Tilberg, Kari (Jay) Kopischke, Ryan (Brittany) Kompelien, Brent (Heather) Kompelien and Craig Kompelien; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Irene Erickson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Burton in 1972 and Leonard in 2000; one daughter, Betty Bergeland in 1999; two sisters, Almira Miller and Josie Haaland; and one brother, Floyd Hovdesven.
