Mrs. Ludvig (Idella) Peterson, 89, passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Tuesday, January 10, 1989. Funeral services for Idella Peterson were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 1989, from the Swede Home Lutheran Church of Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with Pastor Joyce Piper Knorr officiating. Organist was Kathy Jahn and vocal music was provided by grandchildren Patricia Shefveland Jordahl and Robert Shefveland. Serving as Casket Bearers were six of her grandsons; Loren, Jr. and Rodney Peterson, Daniel, Gerald and Timothy Plowman and Stanley Allen Shefveland. Burial was in the Swede Home Lutheran Church Cemetery, Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Idella Severna Christensen was born on April 6, 1899, to Alex and Berit (Kompelien) Christensen in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church, Normania Township. Idella married Ludvig Peterson on February 18, 1924. They lived in Swede Prairie Township for twenty years and then moved to Ludvig's home farm and resided there for 41 years before moving to Clarkfield, Minnesota. Idella spent her last two and one half years as a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center. Idella was active at the Swede Home Lutheran Church and belonged to a homemakers group for many years. She enjoyed herself with meetings at the Senior Citizens Center of Clarkfield. She is survived by her husband, Ludvig of Clarkfield; four daughters and one son, Norma (Mrs. Stanley Shefveland) of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, Verna (Mrs. Albert Plowman) of Midlothian, Illinois, Loren and wife Marlowe of Boyd, Minnesota, Bernice (Mrs. Norman Fliss) of Bellflower, California, and Diana (Mrs. Jerry Carlson) of Cambridge, Minnesota. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and two brothers, Clarence and Floyd Christensen of Clarkfield.
