Ida Cecelia Lindquist Melbostad was born December 20, 1894, in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the daughter of Nels and Caroline (Skald) Lindquist. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed by Rev. Carl in 1907. She attended country school and grew to young womanhood in the Clarkfield community. In 1922, on September 12, she was united in marriage to Oscar Melbostad. To this union two children were born, namely, Audrey (Mrs. Robert Hill) and Arvid. She was a good Christian wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her loved ones. She was always ready to help where help was needed, but now her always helping hands are laid to rest. A year ago her health started to fail and a decline in her condition was noticeable. She died in the faith of our Lord on Monday, April 19, 1954, at the age of 59 years and four months. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death. Besides her family, she leaves to mourn three sisters: Mrs. Leonard Johnson of Clarkfield, Mrs. Sylvester Meyer of Montevideo, Minnesota, Mrs. Arthur Hegdahl of Little Fork, Minnesota; four brothers: Gust, John, George and Oscar Lindquist of Clarkfield; and a host of relatives and friends.
