Lachelt
July 9, 1898 – July 8, 1986
Ida M. Lachelt, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Tuesday, July 8, 1986, from a stroke at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, one day before her 88th birthday. She was the fifth in line of fourteen children born to John and Magdaline (Wiegers) Kopitzke, in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on July 9, 1898, where she grew to womanhood. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township. On March 27, 1919, she was united in marriage to William Lachelt, Jr., also at St. John's Lutheran Church, by Rev. Pankow. Two daughters were born to this marriage, Verdell and Mrs. Delilah Lachelt Macht of Dawson, Minnesota. Verdell was an invalid, blind, and bedridden. She was completely helpless for many of her 43 years and Ida Lovingly and patiently cared for her throughout all these years, eight of which she and Verdell lived alone on the farm after William passed away in 1957. Verdell entered into eternal rest in 1965. Ida was also proceeded in death by her parents; brothers, Herman, Henry, Otto, and Landow; sisters, Emma Riediger, Bertha Kerkow, Lydia Lilljestrale, and Elma Rikke; also several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; son-in-law, Edwin Macht; and baby boy Macht. Survivors include Ida's daughter, Mrs. Delilah Macht of Dawson and grandson, Vernon and his wife Laurae of Boyd, Minnesota.
