Ida Gurine Berg Nyland was born December 30, 1891, to Ole and Annie Christensen Berg in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County in Minnesota. She was baptized February 3, 1892, and confirmed May 13, 1906, at Spring Creek Lutheran Church, rural Clarkfield, Minnesota. On April 27, 1911, she was united in marriage to Olaus Nyland at Spring Creek Lutheran Church. Olaus passed away January 17, 1960. Ida attended school at District 28 in Friendship Township. She enjoyed gardening, handcrafts, making quilts, music, and baking cookies for her grandchildren. Ida Nyland passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center, June 13, 1991, at the age of 99 years, 5 months, 13 days. Ida is survived by four daughters and one son: Alice and husband Eddie S. Anderson of Lennox, South Dakota; Amy and husband Velmin Larson of Clarkfield, Minnesota; Esther Donner of Montevideo, Minnesota; Olaf and wife Eleanor Nyland of Ottertail, Minnesota; Agnes Borgendale of Clarkfield, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband Olaus; her parents; brother, Hardy Berg; son, Orville Nyland (March 1,1991); three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; sons-in-law, Arvie Severson, Raymond Chadwell, Lovell Donner, Orville Borgendale; and daughters-in-law, Ruby Hanson Nyland and Suzanna Rachie Nyland.
